Love, Melissa: A Self-Portrait
I'm joining Chelsey from The Paper Mama in this post and doing the oh-so-dreaded self-portrait! I have never been one to like ANY of the photos I am in, but I agree that in order to really get to know the person you are following and reading about (perhaps on a daily basis?!), you need to see a photo of them.
Confession: I kind of cheated on this post! {oops!} Instead of taking a "self-portrait," I am using a photo that my 3-year-old son took while we were on a mini-vaca this past weekend... aaannnnddd after two days of travel. :)
So, please don't laugh {at least not out loud}. Instead, click follow on the right side of your screen and down, and lets have some fun!
YouTube! haha, I never actually thought I would admit to that! I am actually, currently obsessing over one particular artist on YouTube: Jess Moskaluke. Even more specifically, her rendition of Hallelujah. Take a listen to it.... I think you'll fall in love too!
Working on...
Keeping up with my blog! My New Years resolution was/is to keep up with my blog, post more posts, and make new friends. So far, not doing so well. So, working on doing better!
Thinking about...
The future. There's lots to think about, and lots to keep me busy, and lots to look forward to! <3
Anticipating...
A few big things! So many of our friends and family are expecting this year! Can't wait to welcome all the new little ones into this world and our lives! :)
Listening to...
Cars 2... Dustin is O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D with this movie! We watched it in the car on our mini-vacation, while down at {Dustin's} great grandma's, and now again the first morning being home. Vroom!...
Eating...
{about to eat} breakfast! Practicing making the paper mama's bacon hearts!
Wishing...
I was better at this blogging thing! Hoping... to make more blogging friends!

Wordless{ish} Wednesday: Superbowl XLVI
This past Sunday was Superbowl XLVI! We normally try to get all of our friends and family together for the game (even if it isn't our team playing) but this year we went low-key. Everyone was kind of doing their own thing. We ended up going over to my parent's house and deep-frying a bunch of goodies! (Yes, we are deep-fryers!)
We do enjoy deep-frying, but only on weekends. Since it was Sunday, and the Superbowl, we went all out... sort of!
We deep-fried cut up potatoes and made our own homemade garlic fries (those went the fastest!); corn tortillas to make Ixtapa-style (Mexican restaurant) chips; egg rolls and mozzarella sticks; and my mom made a chili cheese dip.
To go along with all the deep-fried foods, we had french onion dip, soy sauce, salsa, nacho cheese dip, guacamole (my personal fave!), sour cream, and good old ketchup.
We also had a meat and cheese "platter," and some Fritos, pistachios, and M&M's.
Finally, we had my personal favorite of the entire evening.... homemade oatmeal raisin cookies! Yummy!
And how could the night be complete without flying into bed (after brushing and flossing after all these goodies, of course!)?! Doesn't that wedgie just look so comfy?! haha

Feet
This week's photo challenge over at The Paper Mama is feet.
Dustin's feet... please don't mind the dirty toenails! {eeek!} They grow like crazy and being a boy, during summer, he was outside all day, every day!

Wordless{ish} Wednesday: "Snowmageddon"
We're in the middle of what everyone seems to be calling "snowmageddon". At first I was skeptical, but the past 2-3 days have proven to be quite... snowmageddon-ish! We've gotten at least a whole foot of snow, and tonight is supposed to bring us a few more inches! With all this snow, it felt necessary to take full and complete advantage of it. What better way to do that than... going sledding!!! Wahoo!
Being his first time and all, I was so nervous about how Dustin was going to react to sledding. Surprisingly, though, he took right to it and loved it! Even better, he kept wanting to sled down the hill by himself! My little daredevil, I'm so proud of him!

Mmm, Pie!
It’s been crazy, busy, hectic around here lately. This past week marked the end of summer quarter at school. Finals done, it is now time to relax for a few weeks before beginning fall quarter.
However, busy we’ve been, we manage to fit time in for family – and pie! I had been craving a pie for a while, and having a family get together last weekend served the perfectopportunity for me to try making some pies I’ve never made before!
